Mailborder has multiple layers of rules and policies. When an email is scanned, all of these rules and policies are taken into consideration. To determine the final ruleset, a priority system is used.
Logic #
If you are familiar with old-school Cisco logic, you have seen this in the past. The lowest number priority wins. For example, the default priority for a Domain is 80. The default rule for a Network is 60. If an email comes through Mailborder and matches both, then the one with the lowest number wins. In this case, the Network rule would win.
Default Priorities – Editable #
The following are the defaults for each type of ruleset and are editable. It is not recommended to change default priorities unless you are very adept at managing mail flows within Mailborder.
Object | Default Priority |
Domain | 80 |
Network | 60 |
Email Object | 40 |
Default Priorities – Immutable #
The following priorities are used in Mailborder during logic processing and cannot be changed.
Object | Priority |
Portal Group | 10 |
Portal User | 5 |
