Child servers expand the capabilities of the Master server into an additional cluster node. Their capabilities and support scale with the Master server cluster. They can function independently of the Master server in the event of an outage. Multiple Child servers can be attached to a single Master server to provide load balancing and/or failover capability. Child servers require a Master server.
